{"id":1483,"date":"2016-01-07T23:00:00","date_gmt":"2016-01-07T23:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/neu.koetzingit.de\/citrix-receiver-und-proxy-einstellungen\/"},"modified":"2026-06-02T13:33:33","modified_gmt":"2026-06-02T13:33:33","slug":"citrix-receiver-und-proxy-einstellungen","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.koetzingit.de\/en\/citrix-receiver-und-proxy-einstellungen\/","title":{"rendered":"Citrix Receiver and Proxy Settings"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"dropcapmiddle\">C<\/span>itrix Receiver\u2026I don\u2019t even know where to start with all the problems I\u2019m having\u2014or have had\u2014and the workarounds I\u2019ve had to use to get Receiver up and running.\u00a0<strong>This whole receiver\/StoreFront thing is sooo<\/strong>\u00a0\u201e<strong>Sensitive<\/strong>\u201e\u2026Anyway, now I\u2019d like to talk about receivers and proxies.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>First of all<\/strong>: Most of the clients I work for use proxy servers, which are an integral part of their HTTP\/HTTPS connections. I was involved in a client transition, and the\u00a0<strong>existing guidelines<\/strong>\u00a0The proxy settings were simply carried over.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>When the entire receiver \u201esuite\u201c starts up\u2014AuthService, SelfService, Receiver\u2026\u2014not only does it take a long time (be sure to try this on an old embedded Windows XP thin client), but it also attempts to connect to the StoreFront URL.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The \u201eprocess\u201c starts, and then nothing happens? Okay, so as is often the case, it's time to troubleshoot. I enable logging and notice that the AuthService throws an exception when the proxy settings are read. Upon closer inspection of the settings, I find the following proxy exception <code>10.0.0.0\/24<\/code>. That is\u00a0<strong>Incorrect proxy exception<\/strong>\u00a0for Internet Explorer (which IE probably just ignores) and change it to <code>10.0.0.*<\/code><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 5px; vertical-align: top; color: #3e4451; line-height: 1.3em;\">However, in the next trace, the AuthService uses the<strong>\u00a0same proxy exceptions<\/strong>? Even though I've modified and checked the standard registry value for the proxy settings, and everything is as it should be? After further troubleshooting, I found that the Citrix AuthService uses the following binary values:<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 5px; vertical-align: top; color: #3e4451; line-height: 1.3em;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #3e4451; line-height: 1.3em; padding-left: 30px; margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 5px; vertical-align: top;\"><code><strong>HKCU\\Software\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Internet Settings\\Connections<br \/>DefaultConnectionSettings<br \/><span style=\"line-height: 1.3em;\">SavedLegacySettings<\/span><\/strong><\/code><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 5px; vertical-align: top; color: #3e4451; line-height: 1.3em;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 5px; vertical-align: top; color: #3e4451; line-height: 1.3em;\">After I deleted those two entries, the correct proxy exceptions were applied and the applications finally appeared.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 5px; vertical-align: top; color: #3e4451; line-height: 1.3em;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 5px; vertical-align: top; color: #3e4451; line-height: 1.3em;\"><span style=\"line-height: 1.3em;\">I have an \u201eE<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1.3em;\">We have submitted a \u201cFeature Request\" to Citrix to be able to disable proxy usage for Receiver via Group Policy or some other method. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Citrix Receiver&#8230;Ich
