II can't believe it myself, but it's already been 10 years since I launched my website, ThomasKoetzing.de. Two years earlier, I was still running my site CITRIX4GE, which was linked to my Citrix Forum username, „Citrix for Germany.“.
2006 was truly a special year for me! In addition to launching the new website, I was also named a Microsoft Most Valuable Professional (MVP) for RDS and a Citrix Technology Professional (CTP). In fact, I am a founding member of the CTP program. As if that weren’t enough, it was also the time when I started my own business—a major step for anyone who is on their own and has to earn a living.
When you first start out on your own, you usually don’t know what’s coming next, but it turned out to be one of my best decisions. My first job—a really great start—was giving a presentation for the Norwegian Citrix User Group. They invited me to give presentations on the Color-Fantasy, a ferry that runs between Oslo and Kiel. I took the opportunity to go skiing in Oslo afterward.
That was a long time ago, so it’s time for a new website design and a new domain. The domain is meant to make it clearer that I’m a freelancer and provide IT consulting. I keep getting emails asking if I offer IT consulting. I once asked what the person thought I did, and got this reply: „I run a Pokémon website, and what do I think he does for a living?“ Pokémon = Citrix? Okay, I didn’t get that either.
At this point, I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to my friend from Switzerland Andreas Brauckmann Thanks! He took the lead in building the new website and designing it. Thanks also for the great time we had at the photo shoot in Switzerland—I won’t forget it anytime soon. I’d love to do it again anytime 🙂
